How to Guest Post: An Introductory Guide

ewanlawrence330

Writing guest blogs for other sites is a great way to get exposure for your site. You will be more visible to new readers, and if you include links back to your site in your guest blog, this will increase your visibility to search engines.

Familiarize Yourself

You should be familiar with the site before you write a guest blog post. What are their readers? Are they more casual or professional in their tone? What topics do they usually address? They will appreciate a guest post that adds value to their content, and their readers will enjoy it. It is possible to attract new readers back to your blog through it.

Do Your Homework

You can also research guest posts that they have sponsored to get a better understanding of the site. It won't go down well to suggest a guest blog on a topic that has been covered in the past. This proposal is repetitious and shows that you are not a regular visitor to the site. Instead, look for a gap or need that isn't being filled and see if it can be identified. Sometimes, an outside source can provide fresh insight and see things that the main author cannot.

Network

Although it's possible to simply "cold-call” another site owner to offer to write a guest article, it might be more successful if you establish a relationship first. You can start small by commenting on their blogs. You can also reply to their emails if they offer a newsletter subscription. It's not necessary to be best friends. The goal is to ensure that their name is well-known enough that they will consider your request for a guest blog.

Follow Protocol

If the website has a guide on how to request guest posts, you should follow it. Like companies prefer resumes while others require you to submit an application, every website has its own style and way of doing things.

Search Visibility

Guest Posting has one of the most overlooked, but important aspects. It boosts search engine results. Each guest post serves as an automatic backlink back to your website. The more backlinks you have, the higher your site's pagerank in search engine results. These ratings will be higher if you include at least two links back to articles on your site. Deep links are more important than links to the landing page. Be careful, though. No site owner wants guest posts that look like spammy advertisements for their site.

Guest blogging

A guest blog is a win-win situation for all involved. The site owner, you, and readers will benefit. Site owners will receive fresh content on a platter. They didn't have the time to create it. Their readers also get a break from writing. Readers benefit from being exposed to new voices and new ideas. Guest blogging is primarily beneficial to you. A great guest post can bring new readers to you, increase traffic and improve your search engine visibility.
